DO NOT GIVE THIS MOVIE ANY OF YOUR MONEY.
Eff. Why. Eye.
Okay, I’m going to reblog just to point this out: the sponsoring orgs, are anti-porn, flatly ANTI-PORN, anti-sex work, and with a quick skim of the sites, claim that pornography harms everything from our sex lives, to the economy, to whatever. They want to SAVE people from porn.
Having lived through feminism in the ’90s, and the rise of sex negative, proscriptive, TERF culture, this is ringing alarm bells. I am completely ANTI FIFTY SHADES because it portrays unsafe, abusive dynamics, not because it’s porn. Not because I believe porn is inherently misogynist, not because I believe people who are in porn or any form of sex work willingly and with agency are being abused or need to be saved from their jobs or themselves.
I’m anti-50SoG because it’s bad porn, abusive porn, and unhealthy bdsm. I am pro-whatever a person chooses with full agency and healthy dynamics whether that is consensual kink, vanilla, sex work they choose, or not having sex at all. And I am exceedingly wary of orgs whose mission statements read like cheerful shaming screeds with no mention of specific vulnerable populations or inclusive language beyond saying Porn is misogynist and screws men up, too.
